SATS — the Student Achievement Tracking System at sts.karnataka.gov.in — is the Karnataka School Education Department's central system for student data. Every recognised school in the state maintains its student records there: admissions, class promotions, transfers and the documents that flow from them, including the transfer certificate (TC). How to log in to SATS

1. Open sts.karnataka.gov.in in your browser.
2. Choose the login option matching your role — school logins are the primary type; department officials have their own.
3. Enter the user ID and password issued to your school by the department. Access is school-level — teachers and clerks use credentials arranged through the head teacher, not self-registered accounts.
4. Submit to reach the school dashboard, where student records, admissions and TC functions live.

Forgotten credentials are recovered through the department's process — typically via the BEO office or the portal's reset option — rather than a public sign-up flow.

What schools manage on SATS

Student records — each student's profile, with a SATS student number that follows them through Karnataka schooling.

Admissions & promotions — new admissions are entered against the school; year-end promotions update classes in bulk.

Transfers & TC — when a student leaves, the relieving school issues the TC through SATS; the admitting school takes the student in against the same record, so the history moves with the student instead of restarting.

Reports and returns — enrolment counts and related data that the department reads directly from SATS.

The online TC, briefly

The TC on SATS is generated from the student's existing portal record — which is why schools are told to keep SATS updated all year rather than at transfer time. A mismatch between the school's own registers and SATS (name spellings, date of birth, father's name) is the single most common reason a TC gets delayed: the record must be corrected before the certificate can be issued.

Can parents or students log in?

SATS is primarily a school and department system — student data is maintained by the school, not by families. Parents needing a SATS number, TC or record correction should approach the school office, which makes the change in the portal.

SATS vs the school's own software

SATS is the government's record of your students — it is not the software a school runs its daily operations on.
