Identify Cost Price & Selling Price
Worksheet Generator

A dedicated tool for Class 4, 5 & 6 Math Teachers. Generate simple sentence-based worksheets where students must identify and circle the Cost Price (CP) and Selling Price (SP). No complex calculations—just concept building.

Sample Question Output
"Anil bought a bicycle for ₹1200 and sold it for ₹1500."
CP = ₹1200
SP = ₹1500

*Generated in Worksheet Mode with blank spaces for students to fill.

Why Separate "Identification" from Calculation?

Most textbooks jump straight into "Find the Profit." This confuses young students who haven't yet mastered which number is which.

If a student confuses CP with SP, their entire calculation will be wrong (e.g., calculating Loss instead of Profit).

SchoolDeck's Identify CP/SP Generator allows you to spend a whole week just practicing identification before introducing the formula "SP - CP".

Teaching "Keywords" to Kids

Math word problems are often language problems. Our generator uses varied vocabulary to help students recognize CP and SP in different contexts.

  • Cost Price Keywords: "Bought", "Purchased", "Cost him", "Paid", "Investment".
  • Selling Price Keywords: "Sold", "Sold for", "Received", "Selling rate".
  • Context Switching: "A shopkeeper sold a pen..." vs "I bought a pen..." (Helping students understand perspective).

Types of Worksheets Available

We offer three distinct formats for this specific skill:

1. The "Fill in the Blanks" Sheet

Q: "Rita purchased a bag for ₹500 and sold it for ₹600."
Task: CP = ______ , SP = ______

2. The "Circle the Value" Sheet

Q: "Identify the Selling Price in the story."
Task: Students circle only the SP in the sentence. This is great for quick assessments.

3. The "Table Completion" Sheet

A structured table with columns for Item, Transaction Story, Cost Price, and Selling Price. Students extract data from the story to fill the table.

Customization for Beginners

When teaching 9-year-olds, the details matter.

  • Large Font Mode: Generates PDFs with size 14-16 font for easy reading.
  • Simple Numbers: Use amounts like ₹10, ₹50, ₹100 initially to avoid distraction.
  • Relatable Items: Choose "Toys", "Stationery", or "Food" as the item category to keep interest high.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I add "Overhead Expenses"?

Yes. You can enable the "Advanced Mode" which adds sentences like "He spent ₹50 on repairs." Students then have to identify that CP = Purchase Price + Overheads.

Is this useful for special education?

Absolutely. The clean layout, large fonts, and distraction-free questions make it ideal for students with learning difficulties who need focused practice.

Can I mix Profit and Loss scenarios?

Yes. The generator randomly creates scenarios where SP > CP (Profit) and CP > SP (Loss) so students learn to identify both situations.

Is it free?

Yes. Generating basic identification worksheets is completely free for teachers and parents.
