SchoolDeck · Maharashtra Edition

MSBSHSE schools run on SARAL, GR Book and Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla — without the Kruti Dev pain.

SchoolDeck Maharashtra Board edition is a school ERP built for MSBSHSE-affiliated SSC and HSC schools. It generates SARAL 2.0 portal Excel exports in 15 minutes, maintains the digital GR Book (नोंदणी पुस्तक) with auto-sequential numbering, and prints the Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla in pure Unicode Marathi — conjuncts श्र / क्ष / ज्ञ render correctly on every printer. MahaDBT school-level scholarships (Pre-Matric Merit, Maharshi Vithhal Ramaji Shinde, Post-Matric GOI, Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit), VJNT / SBC / OBC / EWS registers, and RTE 25% billing isolation under Maharashtra RTE Rules 2011 are built in. Marathi parent communication runs over DLT-registered templates. Offline attendance and mark entry work in Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Konkan villages with weak networks. Used by 500+ schools across Maharashtra.

A real 60-second walk

Watch a Class 10 Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla print in 60 seconds — in शुद्ध मराठी, on the office printer.

No Kruti Dev. No handwritten Marathi portions. No "we'll send it tomorrow."

Nagpur · April 2, 2025 · 11:14 AM

  1. 00:00 Madhukar Bhosle, Office Superintendent, types GR 4387 into the GR Book search.
  2. 00:03 SchoolDeck pulls the full GR entry for स्वामी रामनाथ कुलकर्णी — Class 10-B, Marathi medium, admitted 14 Jun 2018.
  3. 00:12 He picks language Marathi, leaving reason "दहावी पूर्ण" (SSC completion), TC number auto-suggests TC-0814.
  4. 00:24 Preview opens — every conjunct (श्र / क्ष / ज्ञ) and अनुस्वार (ं) renders cleanly. No broken Matras.
  5. 00:38 He clicks Print. The HP LaserJet behind him spits out the Dakhla — first attempt, no font fallback.
  6. 00:54 SchoolDeck auto-posts the departure entry into the digital GR Book in MSBSHSE-inspection format.
  7. 01:00 Swami's father walks out with the signed Dakhla. Total time at the counter: under 90 seconds.

Before SchoolDeck

Madhukar would have searched the 2018 physical GR register (storeroom, second shelf), copied details to a Word file in Kruti Dev font, found that the conjunct क्ष printed as separated half-forms, fixed it by hand in pen, and asked the parent to come back the next day. Three days, two visits, one frustrated parent.

Why generic CBSE ERPs fail here

Four problems every MSBSHSE clerk recognises instantly.

Pune Trustee or Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad school — same four pain points, every year.

🅺

Kruti Dev font kills the Marathi Dakhla

Conjuncts like श्र / क्ष / ज्ञ print as separated half-forms. अनुस्वार dots disappear. Matras shift to the wrong consonant. Staff handwrite the broken portions — defeating the software entirely.

📋

SARAL takes 2-3 weeks of manual re-entry

Generic ERPs export data in the wrong column order. The clerk opens the SARAL 2.0 portal and types — student by student — for weeks. The same data already exists in school records, just in a format the portal cannot consume.

⚖️

VJNT / SBC categories don't exist in CBSE ERPs

CBSE ERPs ship with SC / ST / OBC / General only. Maharashtra needs VJNT (NT-A/B/C/D), SBC distinct from OBC, linguistic minorities (Urdu / Telugu / Gujarati / Sindhi medium), and EWS — each as a separate inspection register.

📵

Connectivity drops the moment exams start

Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri — internet works on a good day. Cloud-only ERPs lock teachers out of attendance and mark entry on bad days. The Zilla Parishad school waits.

Maharashtra regulatory stack — verified 2026

Six government anchors. Right Act, right Rules year, right portal URL.

Most CBSE-built ERPs cite the wrong RTE Rules year (2012 instead of 2011) and link to portals that were renamed three years ago. SchoolDeck cites the current ones.

Why MSBSHSE schools don't fit generic CBSE ERPs.

Schools affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) operate under administrative requirements that are genuinely different from CBSE or ICSE schools — not just the board name, but the specific documents required, the government portals that must be maintained, the caste categories that must be tracked, and the language in which official records must be generated.

The most visible failure of a generic ERP in an MSBSHSE school is the Leaving Certificate. When software built for CBSE is used in a Pune or Nagpur SSC school, the Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla comes out in English with blank spaces where the Marathi text should appear — or worse, with broken Kruti Dev encoding that prints conjuncts like श्र as two separate half-forms. Staff handwrite the broken portions. The software's value collapses to "we have a database" instead of "we have a working office".

SchoolDeck uses Unicode Devanagari throughout — the same encoding modern browsers, operating systems, and printers natively support. Every Marathi document is typography-correct: proper Matras, proper conjunct consonants (जोडाक्षरे), proper anusvara dots, consistent rendering whether on a Mumbai laser printer or a Vidarbha dot-matrix.

The GR Book is the source of truth — not the SARAL portal.

The General Register — Maharashtra's नोंदणी पुस्तक — is the legally binding permanent record under the Maharashtra Secondary School Code. It is the source of truth for Dakhla generation, SARAL data, MahaDBT scholarship eligibility, and MSBSHSE board examination registration. A discrepancy between the GR Book and the portal data is a serious finding during inspections.

SchoolDeck digitises the GR Book completely. When a student is admitted through the Student Information System, the next sequential GR number is auto-assigned — no manual numbering, no duplicate-number risk. Every required field is captured: admission date, previous school GR number, caste with certificate number, religion, birthplace, mother tongue, parents' occupation, Aadhaar. When a student leaves, departure date, TC number, destination school, and reason are recorded in MSBSHSE format.

SARAL 2.0 — what used to take three weeks now takes 15 minutes.

The Maharashtra SARAL 2.0 portal at education.maharashtra.gov.in requires schools to maintain student records — GR numbers, demographics, caste details, attendance, academic progress — and upload updates at multiple points in the academic year. For most MSBSHSE schools, SARAL compliance means a clerk spending 2–3 weeks per year manually typing student data from physical GR Books into the portal interface — data that already exists in school records, just in a format the portal cannot directly consume.

SchoolDeck eliminates this entirely. Because student data is entered once at admission and maintained throughout the year via the Fee module and Communication module, the SARAL export file is generated automatically — every column mapped to the exact headers SARAL 2.0 expects. The clerk downloads and uploads. What previously took three weeks takes 15 minutes. UDISE+ exports come from the same data source.

MahaDBT — ensuring no eligible student is left out.

Maharashtra has one of India's most comprehensive student scholarship systems, delivered through the MahaDBT (Maharashtra Direct Benefit Transfer) portal. The practical failure in most schools is not eligibility — it is documentation incompleteness. A student genuinely eligible for the Pre-Matric Merit Scholarship misses it because their bank IFSC is missing from the portal submission, or the caste certificate wasn't uploaded before the deadline.

SchoolDeck tracks these gaps. For each scholarship-eligible student, the system shows which documents are collected and which are pending — flagging incomplete profiles before MahaDBT deadlines so no student loses their entitled benefit due to a clerical oversight.

RTE 25% — fully active in 2026, despite the 2024 confusion.

Private unaided schools in Maharashtra must admit 25% of Class 1 seats from EWS and DG categories under Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act 2009 read with Maharashtra RTE Rules 2011. The Maharashtra government's February 9, 2024 notification exempting private schools within a 1-km radius of government schools was quashed by the Bombay High Court on July 19, 2024, and the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal on August 9, 2024. So the 25% obligation remains active.

SchoolDeck handles RTE 25% admissions via rte25admission.maharashtra.gov.in with separate billing — no fee invoices generated for RTE parents — and routes the fee demand to a "Zilla Parishad Receivables" ledger. At year-end, the system generates the reimbursement claim report for the Block Education Officer with all required student details pre-populated.

Maharashtra Board ≠ Karnataka ≠ Gujarat ≠ Telangana ≠ AP ≠ CBSE ≠ ICSE.

Every state board has a distinct workflow. We don't pretend a Karnataka SSLC product can serve a Maharashtra SSC school. Quick disambiguation by URL:

If you're shopping for a school in Pune or Nagpur or Aurangabad — this is your page. If you're in Bengaluru or Ahmedabad or Hyderabad, the linked sibling pages own those workflows.

Trust through restraint

Five things we deliberately don't do.

Most school ERPs over-promise to win demos. Then schools find out the hard way. Here's what SchoolDeck explicitly refuses, and why.

  • Decide MahaDBT scholarship eligibility for you.

We surface what's collected, what's pending, what's due. The eligibility decision belongs to the Maharashtra State Government and the MahaDBT verification cell — not to a SaaS product.

  • Auto-mark student attendance using face recognition or biometrics on minors.

POCSO 2012 and the DPDP Act 2023 §9 (verifiable parental consent for processing children's data) make face-recognition on minor identities the wrong default. Class teacher marks attendance on the app.

  • Send WhatsApp messages without DLT registration.

The platform refuses to send a parent message that doesn't trace to a TRAI-registered template under TCCCPR 2018. Marathi templates are pre-approved through the Meta Business + DLT chain.

  • Refer to the RTE 25% Maharashtra exemption notification as if it's still active.

The Feb 9 2024 notification was quashed by Bombay HC (Jul 2024) + SC (Aug 2024). Our RTE flow assumes the obligation is fully active under Maharashtra RTE Rules 2011 and Section 12(1)(c). We don't mislead schools into thinking otherwise.

  • Replace SARAL 2.0 or pretend you can skip it.

SARAL is mandatory state infrastructure under the Maharashtra School Education Department. We don't replace it. We remove the manual re-entry into it — turning weeks into minutes.

Frequently asked

Questions Maharashtra Principals and Mukhya Lipiks actually ask.

What is Maharashtra Board school management software?
Maharashtra Board school management software is a school ERP built for schools affiliated with the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), covering both SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 11–12) levels. It handles SARAL 2.0 portal exports (education.maharashtra.gov.in), the digital GR Book (नोंदणी पुस्तक) with auto-sequential GR number assignment, Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla (Leaving Certificate) generation in Unicode Marathi or bilingual format, MahaDBT scholarship tracking, VJNT/SBC/OBC/EWS demographic registers, and RTE 25% admission tracking under Maharashtra RTE Rules 2011 — replacing the physical registers, Kruti Dev font documents, and manual government portal entries that Maharashtra school clerks currently manage.
How does the SARAL 2.0 portal export work in SchoolDeck?
Student data is entered once at admission — name, date of birth, Aadhaar, caste certificate, parent details, GR number, demographics. When a SARAL upload is due, SchoolDeck generates a compliant Excel file with columns mapped to the exact headers SARAL 2.0 accepts. The clerk downloads and uploads it directly to education.maharashtra.gov.in — turning 2-3 weeks of manual data entry into a 15-minute process. The same data source generates UDISE+ exports too, so there is no separate collection exercise for the central UDISE+ submission.
Can SchoolDeck generate the Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla in proper Marathi?
Yes. SchoolDeck generates the Maharashtra Leaving Certificate — Shala Sodlyacha Dakhla — in pure Marathi, pure English, or bilingual format using Unicode Devanagari throughout. This eliminates the Kruti Dev font problems that plague legacy school software: broken Matras (कि vs कौ), incorrect conjunct consonants (श्र, क्ष, ज्ञ rendering as separated half-forms), missing anusvara dots, and dropped visargas. The Dakhla prints correctly on laser printers in Mumbai, dot-matrix printers in Vidarbha villages, and direct PDF download — same Marathi rendering every time.
How does the digital GR Book (नोंदणी पुस्तक) work?
The General Register (नोंदणी पुस्तक) is Maharashtra's legally mandatory permanent student record under the Maharashtra Secondary School Code. SchoolDeck digitises it: on admission, the next sequential GR number is auto-assigned with no risk of duplicates. The system captures every required field — admission date, caste certificate number, religion, birthplace, mother tongue, previous school name + GR, parents' occupation, Aadhaar. When a student leaves, the departure date, TC number, destination school, and reason are recorded. Even a former student who left 15 years ago can be retrieved in seconds — no searching dusty storeroom registers.
Which MahaDBT scholarships does SchoolDeck track for SSC and HSC students?
SchoolDeck tracks the four MahaDBT schemes directly relevant to school students: Pre-Matric Merit Scholarship for Class V-X (Maharashtra state scheme), Maharshi Vithhal Ramaji Shinde Tuition + Exam Fee scheme for Backward Class students in high schools, Government of India Post-Matric Scholarship for SC/ST/OBC at HSC (Class 11-12), and Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship for SC students who scored 75%+ in SSC and took Class 11 admission. For each eligible student, the system tracks Aadhaar linkage, bank IFSC code, MahaDBT portal application status, and disbursement credit — flagging incomplete documentation before MahaDBT portal deadlines.
Does SchoolDeck track VJNT (NT-A/B/C/D), SBC, and OBC categories separately?
Yes. Maharashtra has India's most granular caste classification system. VJNT (Vimukta Jati and Nomadic Tribes) is split into NT-A, NT-B, NT-C, and NT-D sub-categories tracked individually for scholarship eligibility. SBC (Special Backward Class) is tracked separately from OBC. Linguistic minorities (Urdu, Telugu, Gujarati, Sindhi medium schools) and religious minorities are tracked for grant compliance. SC, ST, General, and EWS categories are also maintained. These auto-generated registers are printable in the formats required for MSBSHSE inspections, Zilla Parishad audits, and SARAL 2.0 submissions.
Is the RTE 25% quota still active for Maharashtra private schools in 2026?
Yes. The Maharashtra government's Feb 9, 2024 notification exempting private unaided schools within a 1-km radius of government schools from the RTE 25% admission quota was quashed by the Bombay High Court on July 19, 2024, and the Supreme Court dismissed the appeal on August 9, 2024. So the 25% RTE obligation for private unaided schools under Section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act 2009 read with the Maharashtra RTE Rules 2011 remains fully active. SchoolDeck handles RTE 25% admissions via rte25admission.maharashtra.gov.in with separate fee ledgers (no invoices to RTE parents), Zilla Parishad Receivables tracking, and BEO reimbursement claim report generation at year-end.
Does the parent app support Marathi for parents in Vidarbha and Marathwada?
Yes. WhatsApp messages, app notifications, and SMS to parents can all be sent in Unicode Marathi — fee reminders, attendance alerts, exam schedules, and circulars. This is proper Unicode Devanagari, not romanagari transliteration (like 'shulkacha bharava karava'), so messages render correctly on any Android phone manufactured after 2017. The parent app interface itself switches to Marathi — parents in Nagpur, Amravati, Aurangabad, Nanded, Latur, and across rural Maharashtra read homework assignments, fee dues, and attendance in their own language at significantly higher engagement than English-only schools achieve.
Can rural Vidarbha and Konkan schools use SchoolDeck without reliable internet?
Yes. SchoolDeck's mobile app works in offline mode for attendance marking and exam mark entry — data syncs automatically when connectivity returns. A low-bandwidth mode reduces page weight for slow connections, relevant for Zilla Parishad and Gram Panchayat schools in Gadchiroli, Chandrapur, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, and Hingoli where internet drops frequently. The app is optimised for Android 8+ devices with 2GB RAM — the phones rural Maharashtra teachers actually use. All data syncs to cloud daily, recoverable from any device if a school laptop or phone is lost.
Can SchoolDeck manage both SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 11–12) sections in one school?
Yes. MSBSHSE oversees both SSC (Class 10) and HSC (Class 11–12) — though the grading schemes differ. SchoolDeck handles both from one login: SSC uses the 6-grade scheme (A 60%+ / B 45-59% / C 35-44% / D fail / E exempted / H handicapped) with 35% pass mark per subject and aggregate. HSC uses the 5-band scheme (Distinction 75%+ / First Division 60-74% / Second Division 45-59% / Pass 35-44% / Fail) with the same 35% pass threshold. Class 11-12 stream combinations (Science / Commerce / Arts) with electives are handled per student. Primary and middle school sections under the same institution work from the same dashboard.
