SchoolDeck · WB Board Edition · New WBCHSE semester system ready
SchoolDeck WB Board edition is a school ERP for the dual-board architecture of every Bengal school — WBBSE Madhyamik at Class 10 (wbbse.wb.gov.in, 7-point AA-D grade, 25% per subject + 34% aggregate, 90 theory + 10 oral) plus WBCHSE Higher Secondary at Class 11-12 (wbchse.wb.gov.in, NEW 4-semester system from AY 2025-26: Sem 1+2 in Class 11, Sem 3 MCQ + Sem 4 descriptive in Class 12). Banglar Shiksha portal (banglarshiksha.gov.in, 1.74 crore students, DISE-code login) syncs in 30 minutes. Bengali TC prints in Unicode Bengali — every যুক্তাক্ষর / ঁ / র্ renders cleanly. Kanyashree K1 (₹1,000/year, not the outdated ₹750) + K2 (₹25,000 at 18) tracked at school level; K3 college-tier excluded. Sabuj Sathi bicycles, Shikshashree, Aikyashree, Taruner Swapna ₹10,000 tablet, Mid-Day Meal under PM POSHAN, RTE 25% under WB RTE Rules 2012, and offline mode for Sundarbans + North Bengal hills — all included. Post-election scheme transitions tracked centrally so templates stay valid.

Before SchoolDeck
312 students × 4 semesters × ~6 subjects each = 7,488 mark entries to consolidate by hand. Office assistants would build Excel sheets per semester, hand-calculate cumulative marks, struggle with arithmetic, get the WBCHSE format wrong, hand-rewrite Bengali names where the printer mangled juktakkhor. Three weeks per result cycle. Two of them spent on errors that didn't need to exist.

Why generic CBSE ERPs fail here
Kolkata Bengali-medium private school or Sundarbans government-aided Madhyamik centre — same four pain points, every result cycle.
From AY 2025-26, WBCHSE Class 11 = Sem 1+2 and Class 12 = Sem 3+4. CBSE ERPs have no concept of carrying Class 11 semester marks into Class 12 consolidation. Result-day chaos.
Legacy Bengali fonts fragment ক্ষ / জ্ঞ / শ্র / ত্র, drop chandrabindu, separate reph. Office assistants hand-rewrite the broken characters. DI School rejects.
Most ERPs still show K1 = ₹750 (it was raised to ₹1,000). Some include K3 (₹2,500/mo college tier) as a school scheme. Both wrong. Schools paste outdated text into welfare communications and confuse parents.
BJP took office in May 2026. Lakshmir Bhandar → Annapurna Bhandar already announced (Jun 1). Vivekananda Merit Scholarship launching. Hard-coded scheme names in school templates fail within months.
West Bengal regulatory stack — verified May 2026
Most CBSE-built ERPs still show TMC-era amounts and TMC-era workflow assumptions. We track what's actually current as of May 2026.
Class 10 board
West Bengal Board of Secondary Education. Madhyamik = Class 10. 8 compulsory subjects × 100 marks (90 theory + 10 oral). 7-point grade AA / A+ / A / B+ / B / C / D. 25% per subject + 34% aggregate (272/800) to pass.
Class 11-12 board (NEW)
West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. 4-semester system from AY 2025-26. Class 11 = Sem 1+2. Class 12 = Sem 3 (Sep, 100% MCQ) + Sem 4 (Feb, descriptive + 30% MCQ). Each semester 40 marks. Subject total 100. 30% per-subject pass.
State school MIS
West Bengal School Education Department central database. 1.74 crore students + 95,000+ schools. DISE code login per school. SVMCM scholarships 8.81 lakh beneficiaries. UDISE+ integration. e-HRMS for teachers.
School welfare (school tier)
Kanyashree K1 ₹1,000/year (raised from ₹750) + K2 ₹25,000 one-time at 18 (K3 college excluded). Sabuj Sathi bicycle Class 9-12. Shikshashree SC/ST Class 5-8. Aikyashree Minority Pre+Post-Matric. Taruner Swapna ₹10,000 tablet Class 11-12 govt schools + madrasahs. MDM under PM POSHAN.
Right to Education
West Bengal Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2012 read with RTE Act 2009 §12(1)(C). 25% in unaided non-minority private schools Class 1-8. DI School Receivables ledger + year-end reimbursement claim report.
⚠ Transition (May 2026)
BJP won 2026 Assembly Election 207/294. Suvendu Adhikari = new CM from May 2026. Lakshmir Bhandar → Annapurna Bhandar (₹3,000/mo, Jun 1). Vivekananda Merit Scholarship Yojana announced. TMC-era schemes (Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, SVMCM, Taruner Swapna) operational but under review.
"The WBCHSE 4-semester announcement panicked every Pradhan Shikshak in Hooghly. Our previous ERP couldn't handle Sem 1+2 marks carrying from Class 11. Three weeks of mark consolidation in Excel sheets, with arithmetic errors my Office Assistant would catch on the third pass. With SchoolDeck, May 12th this year — 312 HS marksheets, fully Bengali, juktakkhor intact — printed and parent SMS sent before lunch. The Kanyashree K1 amount is correct (এক হাজার টাকা, ₹1,000). The CBSE-built tools next door still show ₹750."

Built for Bengal realities
Sem 1 + Sem 2 (Class 11) + Sem 3 MCQ + Sem 4 descriptive into one HS marksheet. Stream-aware, elective-aware, Bengali Unicode. The 2025-26+ workflow no CBSE ERP can replicate.
90 theory + 10 oral per subject. 7-point AA-D grade auto-applied. 25% per subject + 34% aggregate (272/800) pass thresholds enforced. WBBSE-format consolidated marksheet.
DISE-code-mapped Excel exports — student demographics, attendance, scheme benefits, academic progress. 2-3 days of manual entry → 30 minutes. UDISE+ from the same source.
Bengali / English / bilingual. Every যুক্তাক্ষর + ঁ + র্ renders correctly. DI School + SI School offices accept on first submission.
K1 ₹1,000/year (current amount, not outdated ₹750). K2 ₹25,000 one-time. Sabuj Sathi bicycle log. Aikyashree, Shikshashree, Taruner Swapna ₹10,000 tablet. K3 college excluded.
Attendance + mark entry without network. Sundarbans (Kakdwip, Diamond Harbour, Canning) + North Bengal hills (Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri). Android 8+ / 2GB RAM.
All 23 districts · 5 administrative divisions
Mamata's August 2022 announcement of 7 new districts (Sunderban, Ichhamati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur, Basirhat) was never formally notified — the active count remains 23.
Schools in West Bengal operate under a dual-board architecture — WBBSE (West Bengal Board of Secondary Education) for Madhyamik at Class 10, and WBCHSE (West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education) for Higher Secondary at Class 11-12. The two are administratively separate, with separate registration, separate marksheets, and as of academic year 2025-26, fundamentally separate examination architectures.
In May 2026 the political backdrop also shifted — the BJP won the Assembly Election with 207 of 294 seats; Suvendu Adhikari is the new Chief Minister; the long TMC era is over. School welfare schemes built around Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, SVMCM, and Taruner Swapna remain operational as of mid-2026 but their continuation, renaming, or replacement is under review. Lakshmir Bhandar (women's monthly stipend) is being replaced by Annapurna Bhandar (₹3,000/month) effective June 1, 2026. A new Vivekananda Merit Scholarship Yojana has been announced. SchoolDeck tracks scheme renames centrally — when a state changes a name or amount, your school templates update without manual rebuilds.
From academic year 2025-26, WBCHSE moved Higher Secondary from an annual examination to a 4-semester system. Class 11 has Semester 1 (September) and Semester 2 (February). Class 12 has Semester 3 (September, 100% MCQs) and Semester 4 (February, descriptive + 30% MCQs). Each semester carries 40 marks; subject total is 100 marks (theory + practical/project). The final Class 12 HS marksheet consolidates marks from all four semesters, including the Class 11 semesters captured in the previous year.
This is the workflow that breaks every CBSE-built school ERP currently being marketed to Bengal schools. CBSE has no concept of cumulative semester marks carried forward across academic years. Generic ERPs either lose the Class 11 semester data when promoting students to Class 12, or store it as "old marks" that don't feed the HS marksheet generator. The Office Assistant ends up rebuilding the consolidation in Excel — three weeks of mark-by-mark transcription per result cycle. SchoolDeck's WB edition was built for this: Sem 1 + Sem 2 marks captured during Class 11 stay in the student's profile and auto-populate the Class 12 HS consolidation workflow.
WBBSE Madhyamik has 8 compulsory subjects, each worth 100 marks. The mark structure is 90 marks theory + 10 marks oral — distinct from the CBSE-style "internal + practical + board" split that generic ERPs assume. The 7-point WBBSE grade scheme — AA (90-100, Outstanding), A+ (80-89), A (60-79), B+ (45-59), B (35-44), C (25-34, minimum pass), D (below 25, fail) — applies per subject. Pass thresholds: 25% per subject (grade C) plus 34% aggregate (272 out of 800 total). First Division kicks in at 60%, Second at 45-59%, Third at 33-44%.
SchoolDeck's exam management module applies the 7-point grading and dual pass thresholds automatically on every Madhyamik internal-process marksheet. Subject teachers enter theory + oral marks; the system computes grades and division automatically. Compartment-eligibility for students who failed 1-2 subjects is flagged. The final marksheet renders in Bengali, English, or bilingual format with all WBBSE-mandated fields.
The Banglar Shiksha portal at banglarshiksha.gov.in is the West Bengal School Education Department's central database. As of 2026, it manages 1.74 crore students across 95,000+ schools, with each school logging in via its DISE code. The portal handles student demographic data, attendance, scheme benefit tracking (SVMCM at 8.81 lakh beneficiaries, Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, MDM under PM POSHAN), and academic progress. UDISE+ exports flow from the same data source.
For most WB schools, Banglar Shiksha compliance means a school clerk spending 2-3 days per academic cycle manually re-typing student records into the portal interface. SchoolDeck's Student Information System stores all required portal fields at admission. When upload is due, SchoolDeck generates a CSV/Excel file with columns mapped to the Banglar Shiksha format. Download, upload, done in 30 minutes.
Kanyashree Prakalpa is one of West Bengal's flagship welfare schemes, internationally recognised (UN Public Service Award 2017) for delaying child marriage and supporting girl-child education. It has three tiers:
SchoolDeck tracks K1 and K2 at the school level because both disburse during school enrolment. K3 is explicitly excluded — it disburses in college, not in school, and schools that pretend to track K3 produce misleading communications. Sabuj Sathi (the correct Bengali spelling, meaning Green Companion — NOT "Sabooj Sathi" as generic ERPs sometimes write it) bicycle distribution for Class 9-12 is tracked with received / pending / distributed status per student. Shikshashree, Aikyashree, and Taruner Swapna all integrate with the same student database.
The West Bengal Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2012 (read with RTE Act 2009 §12(1)(C)) is active in WB — 25% reservation for EWS/DG children in unaided non-minority private schools, from entry-level Class 1 to Class 8. SchoolDeck manages RTE 25% as a separate category: students flagged at admission, fee invoices suppressed for RTE families, fee demand routes to a "DI School Receivables" ledger, year-end reimbursement claim report generated in the format DI School and SI School offices accept.
Bengal has a high literacy rate, but a significant proportion of parents — particularly in the Sundarbans (South 24 Parganas), Murshidabad, Bankura, Purulia, and the North Bengal hill region — are more comfortable reading Bengali than English. SchoolDeck's parent communication module sends WhatsApp messages, app notifications, and SMS in Bengali Unicode. Templates are pre-approved through DLT (Distributed Ledger Technology) registration under TRAI's TCCCPR 2018 framework. Romanisation ("kalke chhuti hobe na") is refused as a fallback.
WB shares a border (and partial heritage) with five Indian states and three countries — but the school regulatory stack is distinctively its own. Quick disambiguation by URL:
Trust through restraint
Most ERPs invent workflows to look feature-rich. We refuse to fake schemes or use outdated amounts.
From AY 2025-26, WBCHSE is a 4-semester system. Class 11 Sem 1+2 + Class 12 Sem 3+4. CBSE-built ERPs that still run annual workflows will silently lose Class 11 marks when promoting students to Class 12. We don't.
The amount was raised to ₹1,000 per year. Several school ERPs still display the outdated ₹750, which appears in parent communications and creates eligibility confusion at the DI School level. We track the current amount.
K3 (₹2,500/mo Science / ₹2,000/mo Arts) is for UG/PG students at college level — it doesn't disburse through schools. We track K1 + K2 only. Same exclusion rationale as Dashmottar in UP and Overseas Vidya Nidhi in TS.
It's a women's monthly stipend (₹500 General / ₹1,000 SC-ST) at household level — not a school scheme. Being replaced by Annapurna Bhandar (₹3,000/mo) under the new BJP government from June 1, 2026. Either way, schools don't disburse it.
BJP took office May 2026. Kanyashree, Sabuj Sathi, SVMCM, Taruner Swapna are operational but under review. Renames are likely (this happened in AP, RJ, TS post-election). We track scheme renames centrally; your templates don't need manual rebuilds.
