Add up tuition, hostel, transport and any other fee heads, then apply a National Scholarship Portal (NSP) or institutional scholarship — as a fixed amount, a percentage, or a tuition-capped grant — to see the net payable and an instalment split. Built for admission counselling and onboarding. It runs in your browser, with nothing stored, and gives an estimate — never a guaranteed amount.

Indicative estimate for planning and counselling only — not a fee quote or a scholarship sanction. Fees are set by the institution; NSP and state scholarship eligibility, amounts, caps and what each scheme covers are decided by the relevant ministry, state or institution through their own process and change each year. Confirm the live figures on the National Scholarship Portal and with the institution before relying on any result.
The background
For most students at Indian colleges, the headline fee is not what the family actually pays. Between government scholarships and institutional waivers, the net payable can be materially lower — but only if the pieces are added up correctly. This estimator separates the two halves: the fee heads the institution charges, and the scholarship that reduces them.
The National Scholarship Portal (NSP), hosted at scholarships.gov.in, is the Government of India's single platform for central and state scholarship schemes. A student completes a one-time registration (OTR, linked to Aadhaar), applies online, the institution verifies the application, and approved amounts are paid straight into the student's bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS). Schemes span Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, the Central Sector Scheme, NMMSS and various ministry and state schemes for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, minority and disabled students.
This is where estimates most often go wrong. Many NSP schemes reimburse tuition up to a cap and add a maintenance allowance, rather than paying hostel or transport directly. So a student with a large "scholarship" may still owe the full hostel and bus fee. The estimator's tuition-only, capped mode models exactly this: the grant is limited to tuition and never exceeds the cap, leaving the other heads payable.
Different awards reduce the bill in different shapes, so the estimator offers three modes:
A merit waiver is often a percentage; an NSP scheme is often tuition-capped; an institutional bursary may be a flat figure. Pick the shape that matches the actual award and the net updates instantly.
Affordability is rarely about the annual figure — it is about the term cheque. Splitting the net payable into the number of instalments the college actually offers turns an intimidating yearly number into a per-term amount a family can plan around, which is exactly the conversation an admission counsellor needs to have at onboarding.
A few rules routinely catch families out. Most NSP schemes do not allow dual benefit — one major central or state scholarship usually rules out another. Eligibility hinges on family income limits that differ by scheme and are revised periodically. And the award is conditional on verification and on funds being released, so a sanctioned amount is an expectation, not a certainty. Treat the estimate as a planning figure and confirm the live position on the portal.

From estimate to billed reality
This estimator answers one student's "what will I actually pay" question. CampusAlly's finance module runs the same fee structure on live data for the whole institution — billing tuition, hostel and transport against each student, recording NSP and institutional scholarship deductions, splitting balances into instalments with reminders, and reconciling Direct Benefit Transfer credits as they arrive. Hall-ticket and exam access can be gated on dues, and Trust-level financial reports are pulled from the same records.

About this estimator
The National Scholarship Portal (NSP), at scholarships.gov.in, is the Government of India's unified platform for central and state scholarship schemes. Students register once (OTR with Aadhaar), apply online, the institution verifies, and approved amounts are paid into the student's bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer through PFMS. Schemes, eligibility and amounts differ and change each year.
It adds your fee heads — tuition, hostel, transport and any others — into a gross total, then subtracts the scholarship you apply. Net payable = total fee − scholarship. You can model the scholarship as a fixed amount, a percentage of the total, or a tuition-only grant capped at a maximum.
It depends on the scheme. Many NSP scholarships reimburse tuition (sometimes up to a cap) and add a maintenance allowance, rather than covering hostel or transport directly. Use the tuition-capped option to model a tuition-only grant, and confirm what your specific scheme covers, because the rules vary by scheme and year.
No. This is an indicative estimate for planning and counselling only. Actual scholarship sanction, amount and eligibility are decided by the relevant ministry, state or institution through their own process on the NSP, and fees are set by the institution. Always confirm the live figures before relying on the result.
Generally no. Most NSP schemes do not allow dual benefit — a student receiving one major central or state scholarship is usually ineligible for another at the same time. Check the specific scheme's rule before assuming two can be combined.
Yes, completely free with no login. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you enter is sent to a server or stored. You can use it whether or not your institution runs CampusAlly.
CampusAlly bills tuition, hostel and transport on live data, records NSP and institutional scholarships, reconciles DBT credits, and collects instalments over UPI — with Trust reports from the same ledger.
