Before moving off manual Excel tracking.
How does TutorDesk calculate teacher pay per class?
Each class a teacher conducts is logged against their profile from the timetable. At month end, TutorDesk multiplies classes conducted by the teacher's per-class rate to produce a pay summary. A covered substitute class is credited to the teacher who took it, not the original — so the count is always right.
Can TutorDesk manage leave and assign substitutes?
Yes. When a teacher applies for leave, TutorDesk shows every class they were due to take and lets an admin pick a substitute from staff eligible for that subject. The slot itself is filled on the timetable in Scheduling, which sends the student alert; the leave record and substitute pay credit live here.
Does TutorDesk give each teacher a single performance score?
No, and that's deliberate — a single "effectiveness score" invites firing by algorithm. TutorDesk shows the facts instead: classes conducted, on-time starts, cancellations, leave and workload hours, labelled as data for a human to interpret. Any student feedback you collect is shown as responses to read, never turned into an automatic rating.
Can I see which teacher is overloaded this week?
Yes. The activity view shows each teacher's weekly hours and classes across all batches, so you can see who's at 30 hours and who's at 10 and rebalance. Deeper comparison across teachers and batches lives in Analytics.
How is teacher attendance tracked?
Teachers confirm a scheduled class from the app, and admins can mark or correct it from the dashboard. For online classes, attendance is logged when the teacher starts the session in Live Classes. All of it feeds the per-class pay total.
Can I store teacher qualification and ID documents?
Yes. Each profile has a document section for certificates, government ID proof and agreements. Documents are access-controlled to admins and handled under DPDP Act 2023, and you can set expiry reminders for time-bound items like teaching certifications.
How is this different from general HR software?
General HR software tracks office attendance on a monthly salary model — no batches, no per-class pay, no student context. TutorDesk connects the timetable, per-session attendance, per-class pay and substitute staffing into one system for coaching tutors who are paid per class and teach across multiple batches.
How is this different from SchoolDeck's staff module?
SchoolDeck's staff module is for school teachers on monthly salaries, with biometric devices and CBSE compliance. TutorDesk's teacher management is for coaching tutors paid per class — per-session attendance, per-class pay, substitute workflows and leave — a different institutional context entirely.
